The Gardner Museum Heist: 13 Masterpieces in 81 Minutes
Harrowgate File 008. On 18 March 1990, two men dressed as police officers talked their way into Boston's Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum and left 81 minutes later with 13 works, including Rembrandt's only seascape and a Vermeer. They walked past a Titian, and took a bronze eagle off the top of a Napoleonic flag. The empty frames still hang on the wall.
